Harp teacher HARP LESSONS – all lessons currently online

Dawn Egan has taught the Celtic harp to children and adults in the Blue Mountains since 1997, and also for the Mitchell Conservatorium of Music in Bathurst, NSW.

Dawn can help you choose an instrument, show you how to string and tune it, and above all, discover its magical beauty. She teaches children from age six, and adults of any age (her oldest student began at age 85, learning for five years).

The sound of the harp is perhaps the most enchanting of all instruments, and Dawn has been captivated by its sound ever since she can remember, being particularly influenced by Maire Brennan, harper of the Irish band, Clannad.

Dawn first started playing the harp in 1984 and began teaching the instrument in 1997. However, her first instrument was guitar, which she has played from the age of 15 when she sang folk songs at school in Bathurst.

Dawn has recorded six albums, including four albums of Celtic harp music for the ABC Music label, for which she received two ARIA nominations. (See discography below)

"A woman whose music is firmly grounded in the Celtic tradition and whose haunting, enchanting melodies carry one back through time to the old stone inns and windswept fields of Ireland."
